Great Success for Northshire Farm's Dressage
Riders
Along with their trainer Jessica van Eyck, five dressage riders from Northshire
Farm in Winhall, were able to reap the rewards of their disciplined training during the past year at the Westbrook Hunt Club
Dressage Show in Connecticut, on May 17th and 18th. The 6 riders were able to win 19 medals, seven of which were for first
place finishes.
The youngest rider, Genneva Blanchard, a sophomore at Burr and Burton, riding her Danish Sport Pony,
Kassius, won two firsts, a third, and a fifth, as well as a 6th in Dressage Seat Equitation.
Meghan Kelley ,
a senior at Burr and Burton, riding her Dutch Warmblood, Unesco, earned 3 second place medals, and a sixth place medal.
Jess
Meyer, of Winhall, riding her 7yr. old Dutch Warmblood Uchain, took three firsts places, and a second place.
Mary Adams, of Dorset, showing her Canadian Warmblood, Osiris, for the first time, finished fourth in the Training 4 Test,
in a class of twenty two riders.
Krissy Stocker, from Rutland, was showing her Dutch Warmblood, Sacramento, took
a first place, and a fourth place in the First Level Test 2 competition, where Northshire Farm placed 4 riders in the top
5.
Jess van Eyck, trainer and owner of Northshire Farm, riding her Dutch Warmblood, Groenhann, finished 2nd for
the Grand Prix riders and first for the Intermediare 2 riders. Jess won the FEI Five Year Old Test on her Dutch Warmblood,
Wanted, with the second highest score of the event. She was extremely pleased with the Northshire Farm's riders and horses,
"Everyone trained and worked very hard this winter and it certainly paid off. I am extremely proud of everyone's
performances."
The Northshire Farm Dressage riders have an extensive schedule of shows organized for this
summer. Northshire Farm also has a group of young riders who will be competing in several Hunter/Jumper shows around New England,
including The Vermont Summer Festival in Dorset. They are coached by Jess van Eyck and Emily Darling, who is Northshire Farm's
Hunter/Jumper Coach.
